Note(s)Wilbur Dorsey (Buck) Clayton (1911-1991) was an American trumpeter and arranger active in California, Kansas City, and New York. His style lent itself to accompaniment, notably for Billie Holiday. He toured internationally throughout his career, making annual tours of Europe in the 1960s. In addition to a 1977 tour of Africa under the auspices of the U.S. State Department, he taught at Hunter College, CUNY, from 1978 to 1982.
