Note(s)Cliff Leeman (1913-1986), an American jazz drummer, performed in the swing and big bands of Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Charlie Barnet, and Woody Herman in the 1930s and early 1940s before forming his own band in 1944. Following military service in World War II, he played with Jimmy Dorsey, Jean Goldkette, Bobby Byrne, Glen Gray, and Bob Chester. In the 1950s, he made regular appearances on the radio show Hit Parade and recorded with Yank Lawson, Bob Haggart, and Ralph Sutton. Leeman toured worldwide in the 1960s and 1970s, frequently appearing and recording with Wild Bill Davison, Joe Venuti, Peanuts Hucko, and Eddie Condon.
