Note(s)John Malachi (1919-1987), an American jazz pianist, accompanied numerous jazz groups in the 1940s and 1950s. After first performing in the band of Trummy Young, Malachi went on to play, compose, and write arrangements for the Billy Eckstine Bebop Orchestra from 1944 to 1945 and in 1947. He toured with Illinois Jacquet in 1948. Malachi also accompanied the singers Pearl Bailey, Dinah Washington, Louis Jordan, Sarah Vaughan, Al Hibbler, and Joe Williams in the 1950s. His made his final recording, "Classic Rags and Ragtime Songs" (Smithsonian), in 1975.
