Note(s)Joseph Wilmer (Joe) Darensbourg (1906-1985) was an American clarinetist and soprano saxophonist. He studied clarinet under Alphonse Picou and played with local New Orleans groups early on. After traveling with a medicine show and a circus band he settled first in Los Angeles, then worked on cruise liners and clubs while based in Seattle. He played primarily in the New Orleans style, and from 1961 to 1964 performed and made extensive overseas tours with Louis Armstrong's All Stars.
