Note(s)George Handy (George Joseph Hendleman) (1920-1997) was an arranger, composer, and pianist schooled in composition at the Juilliard School and New York University, and privately with Aaron Copland. In addition to performing with, and arranging for, a number of prominent musicians, Handy worked in Hollywood for Paramount Studios and the Armed Forces Radio Service. He returned to New York in 1947, where he lived in relative obscurity until the mid-1950s, when he gained prominence from the recording of two albums and by working as pianist and arranger for Zoot Sims.
